SNIC: Call for Large allocations open. Deadline 20 October 2017.

The Fall 2017 call for proposals for LARGE allocations of computing time on the High Performance Computing  resources of the Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing (SNIC) is open until 20 October 2017.

The allocations are for the period 1 January 2018 - 31 December 2018.

The Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing (SNIC) is a research infrastructure that provides resources for large scale computation to meet the needs of researchers from all scientific disciplines and from all Swedish universities, research institutes, etc. The computing resources are made available through open application procedures such that the best Swedish research is supported. The resources are hosted by data centers at Chalmers, KTH, LiU, LU, UmU and UU.

Every six months SNIC issues a call for proposals for large allocations of computing time.

The deadline for submission to this call is *20 October 2017 at 3 PM*. At that time, access to the online application system for this call will be closed.

SNIC uses an on-line proposal system for all allocations on its HPC resources that is located at https://supr.snic.se/

We encourage you to start working on your proposal well before the deadline. We also encourage you to carefully read the instructions that are available at https://www.snic.se/apply-for-resources before submitting your proposal.

Note that allocations can be requested on one or more resources in a single application.

Please also note:

Please note that the resource Triolith will be replaced with a new resource during 2018. It is estimated that the replacement will take
place in Q3, 2018. At that point project allocations will be scaled and transferred to the new resource. Installation of the new system is likely
to be done in stages with an overlap in operation between parts of the new system and parts of Triolith.
