SNIC: Call for Large allocations open. Deadline 13 April 2018.

The Spring 2018 call for proposals for LARGE allocations of computing time on the High Performance Computing  resources of the Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing (SNIC) is now open and will remain so until 13 April 2018.

The allocations are for the period 1 July 2018 - 30 June 2019.

The Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing (SNIC) is a research infrastructure that provides resources for large scale computation to meet the needs of researchers from all scientific disciplines and from all Swedish universities, research institutes, etc. The computing resources are made available through open application procedures such that the best Swedish research is supported. The resources are hosted by data centers at Chalmers, KTH, LiU, LU, UmU and UU.

Every six months SNIC issues a call for proposals for large allocations of computing time.

The deadline for submission to this call is *13 April 2018 at 3 PM*. At that time, access to the online application system for this call will be closed.

SNIC uses an on-line proposal system for all allocations on its HPC resources that is located at https://supr.snic.se/

Note that allocations can be requested on one or more resources in a single application.

Please also note:

The resource Triolith will be replaced with a new resource named Tetralith. Awarded Triolith allocations will be transferred to Tetralith
and users migrated. The Tetralith installation will take place in two stages. The first stage will have a capacity that exceeds the current
computing capacity of Triolith. NSC plan to have the first stage available from July 1, 2018. The second part is installed after Triolith is
decommissioned and dismounted. NSC plan to have the entire Tetralith in operation by November.

The resource Crex is the centre storage at UPPMAX, attached to the Rackham compute cluster. Proposals requesting Crex storage in SNAC
LARGE must also include requests for compute resources totaling more than the limits of SNAC MEDIUM (100 kch/month), at least part of which are on
Rackham. Storage at SNIC centra other than UPPMAX is handled by individual consideration by the centra.
